I'm foxy

One of my favorite words of all time is "heteroskedasticity". I especially like that it is an eight-syllable word that means "non-constant variance", which has only six syllables.

Next week I'll be in Phoenix for some testing for work and this means I'm finally getting to play around in Enterprise Miner. Just clap your hands and say yeah.

I'm not going to get any comments for this post, am I.

I've just been at a bunch of seminars where we've had lots of people (myself including) talking about Generalised Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity.

It rules.

And SAS smells.

No way. Enterprise Guide & Miner are the Second Coming.

And, as much fun as it is to say "heteroskedasticity", GARCH sounds pretty funny as well. (For those playing along, that's the abbreviation for the mouthful that Dan mentioned.)

I miss time series.

Enterprise Guide & Miner either sounds like terrible things that are marketed as "solutions", or some new crappy Star Trek series. (matlab r00lz!!!)

And as for GARCH, I may only know a little about it, but I do love being able to say the full sentence really quickly.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld joke: "Why is abbreviated such a long word?"

Off-topic, have you seen Ballets Russes yet? I don't remember reading about it here, but I caught it tonight at the Film Forum and it's really amazing. I highly recommend it, even to non-dance people.

I have not--actually, I haven't been to the movies in a few weeks, sadly. Not sure how to account for that. Perhaps I can catch it later today...

If for any reason you miss BALLETS RUSSES, let me know. I can hook you up with a tape.

Noel, that would be wonderful. As it turns out, I DID miss it and I'm not sure if this is the last week. I don't get back until the early hours of Saturday morning...
