Cherry Blossoms, Washington, DC Tidal Basin
A round-up of links to creative things.
Not only does etsy allow one to inexpensively decorate their apartment (it sure helped me conquer an aesthetically dead wall) as well as sell arts & crafts to others, but they are also hosting a variety of workshops at their Fort Greene headquarters. I kind of want to make a wrap skirt, even though I already know how to sew. Group crafts can be fun.
I’ve been intending to link to this for awhile: A former yoga teacher in DC (I meant to drop in for class last week but I was out taking photos/hungover) and multi-talented woman, Kimberly Wilson has a long-running weekly podcast (she’s up to #78 I think) and blog. Hopefully you don’t mind a lot of pink.
Thrilling news for dance fans: choreographer Christopher Wheeldon has joined The Winger blog! It’s a rare opportunity to have an artist of his calibre speak (or in thise case, write) about his work.
Now that’s clever.
Violinist Joshua Bell, recent winner of the Avery Fisher prize, disguised himself as a street musician, save for the multi-million dollar instrument in his hands, and played to largely uninterested passers-by in Washington, DC. (Link has embedded video.) Now, I would not recognize Bell by sight, nor am I so attentive to classical music that I could pick out Bell over another virtuoso, but it is really too much to believe that a typical person could recognize the quality of his musicianship? The answer is: apparently so. (Granted, at 7:50 in the morning I am not at my most aware, but I would think that something like what you hear in those videos would jolt a person into consciousness.)
Now if you’ll pardon me, I’m going to go eat some chocolate bunnies. Not a euphemism.

Field of Stars at the WWII Memorial, Washington, DC
I’m exhausted. Washington, you wore me out. (And, I think I’m about one noisy conversation away from completely losing my voice. I shall be silent the rest of the day.)
